I'm racing a series that only allows a 390 carb on aluminum high hp engines.
I feel we are missing the boat on the 390 and feel that the tech side has not policing the 390 properly.

What can I watch for in cheating a 390 carb.

First you want some decent compression say 14.2 to one. Second you can run whats called a 20% carb. It is just modified to run 20% methanol. It will give you just about twenty horse and knock down the engine temp about ten degrees. If your Tech. guy is using a gravity Gage to test fuel you will be fine. Also if you run one of those Holley HP or Nascar approved carbs. They are real nice! C&S can work the carb for you if you like the 20% deal. You will need a binder agent to blend fuel. C&S sells it all. There is also a special intake manifold just for 390 carbs! I forgot who makes it but it is a must have! Good luck! :D
