I,m in need of some feedback on engine selection.we currently run a 400 with a dual plane intake ,we are thinking of running a 350 with single plane intake or putting the single plane intake on our 400. the problem we are having is the car is super fast getting out of the corners but we seem to always get run down in the straights. The track we run is a big half mile momentum track, do you guys think it is better to sacrifice the bottom end of the dual plane for the top end of the single plane and which motor would be bettter350 or 400

i ant no expert...but id say put it on an tune it right,..should breath better on the long end,...keep the momentum up an you want need the bottom end as much coming off the corner...you may need a cam change to go with intake to make it work...
...ant no replacement for displacement....

Need more info on your engine rules. If this is a 2V engine, the bigger engines tend to run out of carb on longer tracks and the smaller C.I. engines keep pulling hard.

this is a 2v engine we run a holley 3310 carb. we just bought a a nice 350 out of a limited late with all the goodies and have a hell of a deal on another 400 short block we already have the edelbrock intake and world products heads just wondering which would be the better direction to go as this motor will go into the big track car and the other will be the back up for the short track car, track rules are fairly liberal alot of leeway.also if we run the 400 car has to weigh 3200 and if we run the 350 it can weigh 3050

If both engines are good powerful engines, I would run the 400 on the short tracks and the 350 on the long tracks unless you can run a really hogged out carb on the 400.

I would take the 350 block with a #150 weight break. Either build a good 383 or 397 using a 3.875 stroke.
