We have a 99 Mastersbilt that we have been putting together for what seems like forever now. Hopefully we will be a Dixie in a few weeks.
We were going to run a chain on the LR. Where and how do you mount? Birdcage or axle tube?

run it on the axle tube weld or bolt a clamp on the frame measure the axle travel see where it bottoms out n make the chain like a 1/2 shorter so it dnt bind or flip the bird cage over center i did that to my grt it work good

Do as dirtcar says. Limit travel so that the distance from axle tube to underside of frame rail is 13.5" with the rr compressed and the lr hanging free.
If this is a wide or combo car, move the rr frame rail (at least the section next to the tire) in 2" before taking it to the track.

THanks guys. I believe we have it all worked out. Moving the frame was one of the first things we did. Looking to race not this saturday but next. Will let you guys know how she does.
