Dead Coilover Spring ????

How do you identify a dead coilover spring ?

Would it just show a lower rate then its suppose to be (marked)

Could it weigh out correct and still be considered dead?

I was always told, drop it on a concrete floor. If it doesn't make a high pitched ring......it's weak. To know exactly how "dead" it is, you need to put it in a spring compressor.
