Ok, just curious, whats better, auto, or manual? Im putting together an IMCA stock car for my son, and would like to hear some opinions on which is better, and why. Personally I use a 2 sp muncie and triple disc, but know more, and more guys are goin the powerglide way. Thanks

manual all the way. cheaper, more reliable. only advantage guys claim for a glide is better restarts. but on the flip side i've never been beaten on a start so bad that i said to myself..dam i need a glide..lol

I love the performance of my glide but they are a lot of work. Definitely make sure you know how to work on 'em.

If you get a good glide you dont need to work on them. The bushore I have now has 3 full seasons on it. Change the fluid every couple of nights, check the band adjustment and thats it. Rotating weight is a big advantage also.

how much lower is the rotating weight of a powerglide compared to a direct drive saginaw or muncie?
