Great question, I am looking for the same answer. I am in the process of putting some small updates on the chassis and would really like to have it re-powdercoated.

i can't think of any downsides to it other than time and cost. the chassis is usually baked before sandblasting to make the old coating brittle but i don't think it's hot enough to compromise it. i've been told $500-800 will get you a good re-coat. if i was looking to replace the pit, deck etc. anyway and there was a lot of bare spots showing rust i would consider it. otherwise some tractor paint to touch it up works just fine. a good re-coat does look nice though and would probably add to the value.
