We use a dewalt buffer/grinder with adjustable speed with 36 or 40 grit make sure to go around rear tires and across the fronts there is a little to that and also buff the tires dont grind the snot out of them to many times i see guys grinding so hard and smoking there tires thats just cooking them not good for the tires hope this helps

I use a Snap-On buffer varible speed buffer that i bought 10 yrs ago and that seems to work great. One thing you got to look at is the weight.... alot of prep in the tire department is key and you dont want to be muscling a heavy peice around if you can use something just as good that weighs 2 pounds less. Who knows if Snap-On makes that same buffer but i like it way better than the dewalt. I use 36 grit mostly but i am not preparing for as many tracks as others are either. Good luck and hope you get the info you need.

Harbor freight has a one for around $40.I like it because it is real light.I've used it for a year, went and bought a second one because you know that its going to quit at the worst time .It's still working good .

We use the HF buffer on Sprint car tires and it's lasted 2 yrs so far, will probably exchange it for a new one over winter. Look for a 20% off coupon and wait until it's on sale, I think we paid $26 for ours ;) .

We had an HF buffer that was at least 4 years old last check (3 years ago) and I think it is still working.

I was just checking out HF, are you guys talking about using the grinders or polishers, the grinders that I looked at are not speed adjustable, but the polishers are variable speed.

Listed as 7" sander/buffer or polisher. IIRC. Comes with a velcro backed sanding pad, and polishing bonnets.
