This format MIGHT get me back down there. They don't need anything other than Late Models. This part I specifically like: Unsanctioned - OPEN BRAND / COMPOUND TIRE RULE

I like the LM only format, especially because it's so freakin cold as previously mentioned. The people who go there only want to see Late Models. I'll be there for both races before we head down to Eastbay.

I see Flagone has changed his post also, but if you read Lloyd21's post, it says the Limited Sportsman will also race, so it is not just SLM's.

Frankie decided to add one support class to try to ensure there are no dead times on the track. We will still be done plenty quick.

I was really hoping this event would be Super Late Model only. Like dirtfan2757 said, 95% of the people at this race don't want to sit even longer in the cold to watch a support class that can't go 3 consecutive laps without a spin or wreck.

I've never understood why Golden Isles doesn't run after Volusia when the temperatures should be warmer. Some people in the past have said that more teams equipment would be used up and some would but some teams don't even go to Eastbay anymore and just go straight to Volusia. Don't think there equipment would be as used up as some would think. Plus some people's cars aren't ready when it's time to come to Golden Isles.

So they are running clip cars and not NLMS as the supporting class?

CGF
12-08-2010, 10:35 PM
In my area its the best 8 car main event you will ever see... my personal favorite around the Carolina's. The cost to run this class is unreal on motors. JMO its what real racing is about ..3,4 cars door to door and gunning for the win !!!! Not the first car who makes it to turn 1 ...

Basically a Late Model with a stock front clip, 2,700#'s, & a 400hp engine on 12" wheels.

Super Bowl of Racing VII at Golden Isles Speedway Set for February 3rd-5th

Waynesville, Georgia – The seventh installment of Golden Isles Speedway’s signature event has been set for Thursday, February 3rd through Saturday, February 5th. The Super Bowl of Racing VII will feature two 50 lap Super Late Model events paying $10,000 to win each. The 2010 version saw a pair of championship winning national stars and a rising superstar each take a win. In 2011 the event format has been tapered down to 2 nights of competition to allow for better racing at the 4/10ths mile South Georgia clay oval. “This has become our biggest event of the year. It is popular among the drivers and we have had some outstanding racing the last few years. We expect much of the same at this year’s Super Bowl.” commented GIS owner / promoter Frankie Lloyd.

Another change employed for the 2011 Super Bowl will be for the first time in its history the event will be unsanctioned. However Lloyd has contracted the services of Kelley Carlton and his KELCAR Motorsports Media & Management group to oversee the event. Carlton was the Director of Competition with the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series from 2000 through 2010 and brings more than 15 years of race event management experience to the table. “Mr. Lloyd wanted to try the event unsanctioned but he wanted to provide the racers with a sense of security regarding how the event would be conducted. He and I got together and worked out a plan for my folks to officiate and handle all aspects of tech for the Super Late Models. Mr. Lloyd is a staunch opponent of chemical tire alteration so one of the first questions he had was ‘can you handle lab testing for the tires?’ said Carlton.

“Given our history and experience with tire sampling it will be no problem to manage the tire issues. We plan to take multiple samples at various times each night. The tire rule allows for any compound or brand but prohibits any chemical alterations. Most racers hate all the chemical stuff and want nothing to do with it. We want to provide them with the peace of mind that they will not have to worry about chemical tire treatments at the Super Bowl.” added Carlton. The KELCAR group plans to utilize the same Blue Ridge Laboratories that most other major sanctioning bodies have come to use. “These folks understand what we are doing and know what we need from them. They have been excellent to work with and they are very well respected in their field. We appreciate their professionalism and I am glad they are on board with us.” said Carlton.

Super Bowl VII kicks off on Thursday, February 3rd with an open practice session. Pit Gates open at 3 PM with practice schedule to begin at 6 PM. Friday, February 4th Pit Gates open at 3 PM. Hot Laps are scheduled for 5 PM with racing to follow at 6 PM. Saturday, February 5th Pit Gates open at 3 PM. Hot Laps are scheduled for 5 PM with racing to follow at 6 PM. Golden Isles has still has camping spots available with full hook-ups. For more information including a complete schedule, directions and ticket information visit www.goldenislesspeedway.com or call (912) 778-3767. For any Super Late Model technical questions please call Kelley @ (864) 871-1442 or email kelcarms@gmail.com

I just think its only fairest to the fans if we pay to see all of these drivers that the tracks garanteeing will be there, so if they dont race and fans has already paid then we can get a dollar back for each one who dont come is just fair for the fans that believed in the track enough to buy tickets and travel to the race where the track says the drivers will be. And I've heard that some of the drivers who are on that last arent going to be able to come and race.

As of right now the weather for saturday looks like crap as well 70%.

You guys really need to look at alittle more promotion of this event.
Went to North Florida Speedway Sat night, very packed stands,
at the ticket booth you were given a promotion card of Volusias speedweeks
as well as every car in the parking lot got one on their windshield, not a bad idea to
attract the casual fan.
Those of us that go somewhere weekly know of these events, many people
I talked to in the stands didnt know of the GIS event this week and the
hopefully incredible field of cars that will be there, many said they were going now.
Based on the number of people that I may have sent
to your stands, maybe a free t-shirt or something is in order, Just a thought!
Lets hope the weather cooperates.
If weather is a problem for 1 or both nights, is sunday an option?

The other thing that kind of bugs me, at GIS, when the race is over, every car just
just leaves the track, its the only track Ive been to where the winner doesnt get
out on the frontstrech for pictures and the crowd, I dont know about anyone else but
I like to see and hear a few words from the winner.
Other than that, the racing is great !

Any race there, there is no victory lane on the frontstretch, love the racing there sir,
dont really care who shows and who dont, the racing will be great at GIS,it always is, but put you a victory lane on the frontstretch, fans would love it , as well as before the feature, line the cars up on the frontstretch, drivers out of there cars......... its great , the best dirt late model drivers on the east coast, people want to see, take pictures, enjoy the moment !
