UFo Tracks Unify 2011 Rules for More Economical Options!

(MARS PA) – Participating tracks of the UFo Race Championship tour have release the common car rules and procedures that will be used for 2011 UFo events. At least 4 of the participating tracks will also be using the UFo car rules for their weekly shows in 2011, giving race teams more economical options to participate in the Super Late Model class.

The 2011 UFo Super Late Model car rules will stay basically the same as 2010 with a few minor tweaks. 4 competitive motor options will once again be offered in 2010, allowing drivers the full choice of motor combination to fit their budget and driving style. Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway, Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex, Tyler County Speedway, Thunder Valley Raceway and Dog Hollow will all utilize this same rules package for their weekly shows. PPMS will continue to implement a Hoosier tire rule on their weekly shows with an open tire rule on all UFo events. Roaring Knob, Tyler County, Thunder Valley and Dog Hollow will use an open tire rule on their UFo and weekly events.

The newest motor option for the UFo race championship is the ultra-economical GM Performance 525 motor. This all-aluminum retails for approximately $7,200 and another $1,800 of external add-ons are recommended to boost horsepower. The motor is sealed and not internal modifications are permitted, which also realizes a savings for competitors. This motor has already seen success in the South and Midwest with feature wins in the Southern All Star and NASRA Super Late Model series. This motor option will make it possible for more teams to remain in Super Late Model competition over the long run.

The goal of the UFo Race Championship rules is to equalize the various motor types and allow the race teams full choice of their motor selection. The UFo Race Championship uses weight breaks and spoiler variances to make the various motor types equally competitive with each other. This formula has proved successful as both unlimited aluminum block motors and the lower-powered spec motor have captured UFo feature wins since the tour’s inception. The GM 525 and steel block motor options are new to UFo competition.

Unlimited aluminum block motors will continue have a base weight of 2,250 pounds with an 8” spoiler. Unlimited steel block motors will have a base weight of 2,200 pounds with an 8” spoiler. The base weight for spec motor cars will be 2,200 pounds with an 12” spoiler, larger side spoilers and a 4” nose spillboard. The new, all aluminium GM 525 sealed motor will have a base weight of 2,150 pounds and will be permitted a 14” spoiler with 12” maximum vertical height, even larger side spoilers and a nose spillboard.

The UFo Race Championship procedure rules will also just see minor adjustments in 2011. The most significant change will be that the 1st UFo provisional will now be allowed to earn feature points. Since the 1st provisional earns a feature starting position through attendance and consolation finish at the same event, it was decided that this would become a point-earning starting position. Other provisionals, which are typically awarded by point standings based on previous events, will continue to earn only consolation points for the feature. A few additional, more-specifc definitions have been added to other rules for 2011.

The UFo Race Championship format will stay 100% in tact for 2011. This format has proved to be near-perfection as it provides an amazing amount of passing and side-by-side racing for the fans while giving the drivers a fair qualifying and race system where all driver’s opportunities are equalized. With a draw for heat race position, redraw for the feature race alignment, double file restarts and extended-lap races, a driver can win from any starting position on the grid. It is common to see drivers turn rear-starting heat race positions into wins or top features finish at UFo events. The UFo procedures and caution penalty system also promotes ultra-clean racing on the track. 2010 UFo competition saw very few multi-car incidents.

PDF format printable documents of the UFo Race Championship car rules and race procedures are available at the track’s website http://www.uforacechampionship.com. The UFo Race Championship is an event marketing alliance among independent supertracks in the Pennova region (Western PA-Northern WV-Northeastern OH). Participating speedways presents their own championship Super Late Model events throughout the season using common tech and procedure rules with a year-end point bonus for the top finishing drivers on the tour. Eligible tracks are within the 3 hour travel distance of the central point of Washington, PA.

Your going to drive from florance to pa to watch 25 or 30 local guys run a pill draw race for 3 grand to win which usually puts fast guys in the pole anyway ???

How many cars finished, and how many of those passes we the result of a car breaking or pitting ? You can make your stats say hess came from last to second on friday at the pittsburgh and it seems impressive untill you mention 6 cars finished. There is nothing anyone can ever say to convince me that pulling a number out of a hat is a better way of doing things than qualifying, from both a fan and from a driver perspective, qualifying is the only real way to determine a starting grid, i could see maybe invert the top 24 like the stars used to but under no circimstances should the fast time be inverted to a position that doesnt transfer.

Since you mentioned Florence, they also pill draw most of their events. Anything under 5k. Racing is excellent on those nights.

I actually try to avoid races with long, boring qualifying sessons and weak formats. I will travel further to see a good race, I think Lucas is under 2 hours from my house the weekend of the Chiller and Mercer, and where to go is a no brainer for me.
