$5000 to WIN at "THE ROCK"

The 9th Annual Western Maryland Small Car Nationals at “THE ROCK” Allegany County Speedway will once again be a sanctioned event by the Steel Block Bandits in 2011. This $5000 to win, $300 to start 50 lapper event will pull drivers from Ohio, PA, WV, VA, MD and beyond. In 2010 Kyle Lear walked away with $5000 but local driver DJ Troutman lead most of the laps. Walker Arthur the 2010 series champion, gave chase to the top runners but could not find that extra power needed to push him to the top.

For the past 8 years, on this same weekend we has seen some of the best racing at THE ROCK. We have watched super late model drivers drop back and lower division drivers step up to compete for this top prize of $5000. Can a local driver hold on in 2011 or will we see an outsider roll in and grab the big check?

“This event is one of the biggest steel block late model races in the mid Atlantic area,” series promoter Danny Wilson. “Rick Jones is a huge supporter of our series and I cannot thank him enough.” Wilson went on to say, “This event has so much history. It is an honor for our series to be a part of the nationals.”

The race dates are as follows:
Friday Oct. 14th – Time Trials and Heat Races
Saturday Oct. 15th – B-Mains and 50 Lap $5000 to win Feature
