Use 3/4 inch... Thats the diameter, so it slide over the flat spring steel no problem. If you use 1 inch its way to much shrinking involved.

We have the higher grade (1095 Super Blue) Spring steel in 35ft rolls that can be bent in a brake and will not snap or break in a crash.

We also have the heat shrink tubing in stock in all different colors by the foot or by the 100ft roll. We also have some higher grade heat shrink with internal adhesive for extreme conditions in several colors as well.

Give us a call and we can get you the right product for your needs.

I use a cut off wheel.

Warning.... When you first open up a coil of that stuff,,,, watch out. Its deadly

I use a sheet metal break to break the SS to length. As far as the coil goes don't un coil it. Keep it coiled and just slide out the length you need and use plenty of wire ties holding it together.

we use a cut off wheel but a guy that helped us with doing our body had a hand plate shear it was much better than a noisey cut off wheel with no sparks so no chance of a fire

The coils that I have been getting (day motorsports) have come taped in about 8 different spots. You have to cut it open. I put zip ties around it and then cut the tape off. Then i just found it easier to cut the 40 ft coil in half and put the two straight 20ft lenths on my material rack.

We use it everywhere aside from the middle door brace on the driver's side. Thats just the way those braces were done when we picked the car up from rocket. I BELIEVE they do this because it is possible for the spring steel to break and go through the c0ckpit sheetmetal. That was always my assumption anyway.

for holes hands down a punch save time and money by learning from our experience, yes drill bits will work but after you buy 100 of them whats cheaper get a punch for spring steel!!!
