All Stars to thaw the Winter Freeze at Screven Motor Speedway

Camargo, IL. (1-18-11) By Brian Liskai - The O'Reilly Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champion Sprint Cars and O'Reilly Auto Parts Late Model Series will heat up race fans and thaw the Winter Freeze at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga. on Feb. 3.

The All Stars sprints and late models will kick off the 2011 racing season with the Inaugural Winter Freeze event which will pay the feature winner in both divisions $10,000!

The first ever appearance of the All Stars sprints on the three-eighths mile clay track will open with a practice session on Wednesday, Feb. 2. Pit passes will be $20 but fans can watch for free in the spacious grandstands. Thursday night's racing will cost only $25 for grandstand seating for adults while kids 12 and under are admitted free.

Located between the towns of Newington, Ga. and Sylvania, Ga., Screven Motor Speedway has never felt the thunder of the 800+ horsepower winged sprint cars blasting through its banked red clay turns. Known as "The Action Track of the South," Screven has been in operation since 1997 and has hosted several big late model shows. Dennis "Rambo" Franklin has the track record at Screven set in 2009 with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series at 13.906 seconds.

Fans can be sure some of the best sprint car and late model drivers in the United States will be on hand for the first race of 2011 as teams make their way south for the Winter Nationals in Florida later in the week. And if the action on the track doesn't warm you up, the grandstands will feature heaters under the bleachers to make sure fans have a comfortable night.

Screven kicks off the O'Reilly Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars' 2011 season and will be part of "America's Series" new regional points system. Screven Motor Speedways Winter Freeze is the kick off of the Eastern All Star Region which will pay the point champion at year's end $20,000!

Two-time All Star Sprint Champion Tim Shaffer - the Steel City Outlaw - will be looking to continue his phenomenal 2010 season which saw him capture 16 All Star wins in addition to sprint car racing's biggest jewel, the Knoxville Nationals. However, Shaffer could have his hands full with the likes of Pennsylvania Posse members Lance Dewease, Fred Rahmer, Stevie Smith, Chad Layton, Greg Hodnett, Justin Henderson, Mark Smith, Todd Shaffer and more. Throw in the All Star regulars like two-time champion Greg Wilson, Ohio Sprint Speedweek Champion David Gravel and 2010 All Star Rookie of the Year Cap Henry, three-time All Star Champion Dale Blaney and some World of Outlaw teams all competing for the first time at Screven, and the Winter Freeze has the makings of a classic.

Following the Winter Freeze at Screven Motor Speedway, the All Stars will travel to Florida to kick off the 28th Annual Winter Nationals at Ocala Speedway for a two-day show on Feb. 4 and 5. After a brief pause the drivers All Stars return to action for their yearly stop at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., as part of the 40th Annual DIRTcar Nationals. On Wednesday night, Feb. 9, action heats up with a $5,000 to win event and then one night later on Feb. 10 the Sprint Car feature will pay $5,000 as well.
