i feel that anytime you reduce rotating weight its an advantage, i have found several transmissions but we aren't aloud running direct drives. really all im looking for is some input on how hard it is on the clutch starting out in second gear with 5.43 gears im not sure if i want first gear left in trans or just taking out. thanks

Contact Mitchell Machine 515-297-3333. I have a Saginaw from them. 1st and 2nd are lightend so you can still drive it in the pit. It has an aluminum case that looks just like cast iron when it's painted black. I run a 430 in a 3200lb SS and have had no problems with the trans. I think he will build one any way you want it.

i have no problems with mine. i run 5.14-6.20 gears in a 3000lb car with 1st removed. i have a 7.25 inch 2 disc clutch. i also load my car on the trailer by driving it on..no problems.

I had no problems in the pits with my Richmond which had a low range of 1.03 and high of 1.00.

The direct drive link posted above is what I ran a few years ago, he had to warranty 4 of them for me and I had so many issues with them that I was carrying a brand new spare, put it in and it fell apart. Mostly shifter issues, wouldnt go in or out of gear at times etc. A brand new one had the whole shift mechanisms inside fall free in the case after 4 laps in a race... theres just a roll pin that holds that stuff in.

Maybe hes made those better, I know some guys who have had the same one since 04-07 when I was running them and having a lot of issues.
