Which would be the best way to go? Unlimited CI all aluminum at 2300 pounds or unlimited CI aluminum heads and cast iron block at 2200 pounds. (100 pound weight break for cast iron block). The tracks are usually dry slick.

I agree with above poster. It's great to have all the nose weight off the car so you can centrally locate added ballast. 2300# is actually not that bad, when you have to weigh 2400# is when you have to start "looking" for a place to hang weight

Thank you for the quick replies. I'm a little surprised. I thought a 100 pound weight break would be a good equalizer. How much rear percentage would be enough? 54%?

I don't see how a steel blocked car can weigh 2200 my rocket sure won't

Agree with 88, and all above. My all steel GRT weighs 2115lbs, no driver, no ballast, and 15gal of fuel. (I weigh 230lbs.) The 100lb weight break is fair, but it will take more than the 2200 to scale b/c some cars may need in excess of 56% rear to work well.

The weight rules would be more realistic at 2300-steel and 2400-open.

I like that idea. Instead of always trying to help the lesser funded guys go lighter, which is counter productive to running cheaper. A heavier weight for unlimited would make more sense. Back in the early HAT days it use to be #2300 for 360 cubes or less and #2400 for over 360 cubes. JMO

It is possible to get the iron block car to 2200# if you make a concerted effort to reduce weight. If you succeed, then that is the way to go. If not, I agree with everyone else. Most likely, you would need to not use a dry sump.
