would this motor be worth building for an open mod?3.48 crank,6.250 rods,4.145 bore..track is 1/4 mile bullring.or should i just build a 406?...

Depends on a few things. They are great for someone just starting out. Easy to drive.
These engines work well on very slick tracks that dont have a lot of traction.
They love rpm but a nice set of heads and excellant valvetrain is a must to get up there.
If you are only running 23* heads, you will be lacking after 8,100-8,200 rpm.
A 406 will make a lot more torque down lower in the rpm's if you can hook it.
