STARS Volunteer Racing Series Releases 2011 Schedule

SOMERSET, KY (February 27, 2011)—The STARS Volunteer Racing Series is very excited to release its 2011 Schedule for the second year dirt Late Model tour.

The 2011 Season will begin in a little more than a month from now on Saturday April 9th at the North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA for a 40-lap $3,000 to win event. This will be the first of four appearances to the Timmy Millwood promoted facility. The other events at North Georgia Speedway for the STARS VRS will take place on May 14, June 18 and September 17, with each of those events pay $3,000 to win.

After that event, the STARS VRS Late Models will roll into the Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA for the first of three appearances on Friday May 6th for a 40-lap $3,000 to win event. The series will be back at Boyd’s Speedway on June 17 and September 16. Each of those races will pay $3,000 to win as well.

On Saturday May 7th the series will make it’s first-ever and only season appearance to the Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for a 40-lap $3,000 to win event at the Gary Hall promoted facility.

The series will make two appearances to the Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN where Mike Kittrell has taken over the ownership and promotional reigns of the historic race track located just North of Harriman, TN. The first appearance will be on Saturday May 28th as the STARS VRS Late Models will take to the track for a 40-lap $3,000 to win main event. The series will be back on Friday July 1st for the annual Independence Weekend Shootout as the STARS VRS Late Models will co-sanction and team up with its sister series the STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League (MDRL) for a 60-lap $7,500 to win event.

On June 24, the STARS VRS and STARS MDRL Late Models will team up for a Central Kentucky weekend as the both series will race at the Brandon Hardgrove promoted Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY during the running of the 16th Annual Pete Abell Memorial. Both tours will then visit the Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY the following Night June 25th for the Border Wars event. Each KY race pays $3,000 to win.

The series will then take the rest of the month of July off in full support of the Ray Cook Southern Nationals Series which hits the area July 11-23.

The series will make another first-ever appearance, this time to the Joe and Phyllis Loven owned Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN for another 40-lap $3,000 to win show.

The series will be off until the final three events to wrap up the season during the month of September as first the STARS MDRL and the STARS VRS will compete together at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY for the 2nd Annual Stars and Stripes 40 event which pays $3,000 to win.

The series will race in its final events of the season on Friday September 16th at the Boyd’s Speedway and September 17th at the North Georgia Speedway. This weekend will conclude the 14 race schedule.
