The Skyler Trull Memorial paying $4,000 to win and $2,500 in Contingency Awards to be presented to Carolina Clash Competitors.

The Carolina Clash season opener is set for March 12th at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, N.C for the 11th Annual Skyler Trull Memorial race. The Skyler Trull Memorial race is held as a benefit for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and also as the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series opener. On top of the $4,000 to win purse, the Carolina Clash would like to announce that Contingency Sponsors have contributed $2,500 in Contingency Awards to be presented to Carolina Clash competitors.

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities.

There are four steps to granting a wish. Each step builds on the next to help create the amazing experiences that delight wish kids and their families. A wish experience is frequently a source of inspiration for children undergoing difficult medical treatments and a positive force that helps them overcome their obstacles. A wish experience is often more than a dream come true: It’s the catalyst that rekindles their belief in themselves and the promise of their future.

Last year’s Skyler Trull Memorial was won by Dean Bowen who picked up his first career Carolina Clash win in the first event of the 2010 season. Bowen set a blistering fast pace once he took over the lead and never looked back as he went on to capture his first ever win. The young star, Chris Ferguson was able to motor his Super Late Model around the tricky four-tenths mile clay oval to set fast time. In a show of true sportsmanship, Ferguson donated his earnings from his fastest qualifier award to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The heat races were won by Jay Sessoms and Ken Schrader who both lead their respective events flag to flag.

The Skyler Trull Memorial has been a long standing tradition for the Carolina Clash. As some may recall the exciting contest between Randle Chupp and Tim McCreadie just a few short years ago at Cleveland County Speedway. Both drivers put on a show that could be called one of the best races in the history of the Carolina Clash. Every Skyler Trull Memorial has had the same, unique, and exciting racing year after year and this year promises to be no different.

Friday night will be qualifying and heat races for the NDRA Crate Late Models along with heat races for NDRA Open Wheel Modifieds. Heat races and main events for Pure Stock Four and Renegade division will also be held. Along with the full night of racing action, all Carolina Clash Super Late Models in attendance will receive a couple practice sessions to clean the cobwebs off their cars and get a feel for the super fast surface at Carolina Speedway.

Saturday night will be the 11th Annual Skyler Trull Memorial paying $4,000 to win 40 laps of the best super late model racing action in the southeast. Also on tap will be the feature events for the NDRA Crate Late Models and NDRA Open Wheel Modifieds. The Street Stocks will also have a full night of racing including heats and a feature event.

The Carolina Clash would like to announce the following Contingency Sponsors for the Skyler Trull Memorial:
