Montpelier Motor Speedway Releases 2011 Schedule, Increased 2011 Weekly Payout and 2011 Track Championship Payout, & Special Shows

When the green flag finally waves on the opening night of the 2011 season, a historic season will be underway for the 108 year old facility as the Montpelier Motor Speedway in Montpelier, Indiana will begin its 25 consecutive season as a dirt track operation. Harold and Lori Hunter, promoters of the speedway the past two season, have purchased the speedway and have immediately began facility improvements with a new restroom facility, extensive track surface work, a drainage system in the infield, pit seating, sound system, and improved pit drainage along with many other projects on the docket to be completed.

Weekly Classes

The ever popular UMP DirtCar Modifieds will be on hand for 28 shows during the 2011 season. Joining the UMP Modifieds weekly will be the growing Super Stock division which blends street stocks from Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan together for very competitive racing. The Thunder Car division will return to the regular racing schedule in 2011 also. The speedway will also again be the home of the Indiana ModLite Series with the ModLite division.

Weekly Payout

A major highlight for competitors and fans at the speedway this season will be the greatly increased weekly purse. Fan and driver support the past two seasons have enabled the Hunter family to increase the weekly purse in the speedway's 3 main classes by $100-$20 per position throughout most of the field from 2nd place to 20th place along with the tow money receiving a well-deserved increase as well. Each class will compete for the weekly guaranteed purse of:

UMP Modifieds - $600 To Win | $75 To Start | $30 Tow Money
Super Streets - $300 To Win | $50 To Start | $25 Tow Money
Thunder Cars - $250 To Win | $40 To Start | $25 Tow Money

The 2011 increase is the third purse increase competitors have seen from the speedway the past three seasons.

A complete rundown of the payout schedule per class and position can be found on our website under the payout link.

Track Championship

Winning a track championship has always carried a great deal of prestige and this season the Hunter family felt it was important to greatly increase the points fund to reward drivers in the points battle. For the first time, the Montpelier Motor Speedway will award trophies and a much larger monetary payout for point’s positions 1-10 in each class at season's end. Racers will also note a healthy payout and increase for running for a track championship at the speedway in 2011.

UMP Modifieds - $1200 To Win Track Championship | Payback and trophies to top 10 positions
Super Streets - $600 To Win Track Championship | Payback and trophies to top 10 positions

Bonus Pay

During the 2011 season, the speedway will again offer the opportunity for bonus pay when divisions reach a certain car count. The UMP Modified division will compete for $1000 To Win when 35 UMP Modifieds sign in for competition. Speedway officials decreased the required car count from 40 modifieds in the 2010 season to only 35 in the 2011 season. The 2010 season saw the UMP Modified division car count hover in the 30's at numerous races, so drivers should have an opportunity to compete for the $1000 prize throughout the season.
