The short answer in a practical application? 1400 = SD-48 ....sorta kinda... but that's only saying that in a condition that an SD-48 is the perfect choice, the guy that only has hoosiers will likely choose a 1400, vice versa. It gets more complicated the harder or softer you go from that.

I assume these are new tire comparisons. How much different do the Hoosier's and the AR's age? If a 1400 is roughly a SD-48, will they punch the same number after 100 laps? Or punch the same number after sanding them, soaking them in some WD-40?

I have been searching the internet for a table that someone made comparing the compounds of several different tire brands. If I find anything I will post it.

I found this link. Closest I have come so far to a "table" comparing tires.

This is from the Hoosier site. You need to go back to articles from 2006. It's in a tech bulletin dated 01/06/06 Lots easier to read from there site compared to what happened when I copied and pasted it.

What is the difference between an AR Spec-12 versus AR SD-23? I know the 23 is an open comp tire. Thanks to anyone with help?

I know the AR open tires are a lot wider than the SPEC's.
