Runner-Up For McCool at Pelican 100; Super Bowl of Racing This Weekend

Vicksburg, MS (03/07/11) – After a week break Bub McCool will travel to Georgia this weekend, March 11th-12th, as he takes his#57J McCool Logging/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Jay (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)ens Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle in the Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Georgia). The weekend will consist of a pair of $10,000 to win shows and serves as a make-up for the original event, which was rained out in early February. Bub was last in action two weeks ago as he made his first ever trip to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) for the 1st Annual Childress Fishing & Rentals Pelican 100 on February 25th-26th. After seeing Thursday's practiced nixed by rain, the event saw 48 Super Late Models register for action on Friday night. Bub would start the weekend with a bang by setting fast time around the oval with a 13.110 second lap. Via his qualifying effort, he started on the pole of his heat race, which he won half a lap to claim the pole position for Saturday night's 100 lap finale, which paid $10,000 to win.

As the feature went green, McCool motored away from the field, and by the time the event's first caution flag waved on lap 21, McCool had lapped up to eleventh place. On the ensuing restart McCool and Hollingsworth would battle for the lead and just a few laps later Hollingsworth would take over the top spot. McCool would chase him for the next fifty laps as Ray Moore joined the battle for the lead. On a lap 79 restart McCool would blast around the highside to take the lead from Hollingsworth, but caution would quickly wave as Hollingsworth spun in turn three. As the race went green again, McCool charged around Ray Moore to take the lead and would jump to as much as a straight-aways lead over the next few laps before Ray Moore and David Breazeale began to charge back to the front. Over the closing laps the trio would battle three wide for the lead and coming to the white flag Moore inched ahead on the lowside to take the lead. McCool and Moore would battle side-by-side for the final lap with Moore claiming the narrow win over McCool at the checkered flag. Full results are available at www.DirtonDirt.com .
