Ive been running mobil one in my 602 for the past two seasons. This weekend i went to a seminar and picked up a gibbs brochure. In the brochure it says you can run gibbs oil 500 laps before needing to change it. My car only runs about 40 laps a night, which means by running only bi weekly i could go a full season on one oil change. What are your thoughts on it? maybe chris steele could chime in, i know hes the gibbs and 602 guru. also what gibbs oil is best suited for a 602?

Also do you guys think its necessary to run an oil cooler? i have one on my car but its pretty beat up, was thinking about just removing it all together?

Im not a oil guy or a motor guy but in my opinion a oil change is a lot less expensive then a new motor so Id change it every other week.

We don't run a crate, but we do run a 422" 15:1 SB2.2 at 8400 rpm and we run XP-3 Gibbs. We also change it after 12-14 races and we average 50 laps a night. We change our 2 qt Wix every 3 races...Bearings have always looked great...Changing a good synthetic oil every two races is throwing good money away after you throw good oil away!! LOL IMO

sounds like gibbs may be the way to go. If the stuff really holds up for 12-14 nights that would be saving money for sure. We only run 12 races a year so that would work out perfectly. with that being said, do you guys run an oil cooler? and also what type of gibbs is supposed to be run in a 602?

We run XP 1 mixed with XP 3. I have read where other guys run just XP 3. My motor has 4 yrs on it with no rebuild and I run the oil almost all year and have had no problems.

I run Mobil 1 from Wal Mart. 10/30. I change it 10-15 nights or if I have a issue.

My brgs have always looked fine also.
