can any of you tell me what steering boxes will fit the 69 chevelle frame ? will the box off of a full size truck from the same year interchange ? have any of you tried a manual box with a quickener ? thanks in advance

605 or 800 series box

manual would be a killer

If you do think about using a manual box... better stock up on wheaties. Depending the caster stagger you have in it, to the left it will turn easily, back to the right it will be pretty hard to counter steer. [ find a vega box..]
A bigger steering wheel might help, but your hands will have to move more. Find a stock box from a metric chassis, run that. It might be what you want. A 2:1 with a quick ratio box; a little over 1 turn lock to lock. I guess what I am 'trying to say, you will need to experiment with different boxes to find the feel you want, in the steering.
High dollar box verses a stock box everywhere cheap. If you worry about weight grind off the extra tabs put box on a diet.

I raced a 69 chevelle frame one year and I believe it has the same mounting points as any other car. Not sure about box numbers though. My car has 2.5 rounds lock to lock no quickener, it drive's easy. also, every car I raced until last year had no power steering, go with power steering.
