Ultimate Series First Race to Chris Madden - $10,000 March Madness up next this Sunday at Cherokee Speedway
Not even threatening rain showers could stop Chris Madden from again reaching the Modoc 100 victory lane. Madden won $10,000 winning the Inaugural Modoc 100 back in 2005. While this payday was not as large, the victory was just as sweet. "We're back shining like we used to. We struggled a bit last year, but this is a great start back in the right direction" exclaimed Madden in victory lane. Chris Madden passed both Casey Roberts and Chris Ferguson late in the race for his first win of the young year."The last couple laps we got (Ferguson) in one corner and got Casey in the other on the outside," Madden said. "About halfway through the race I passed a couple cars on the outside. I knew the top was there, they got slowed up by the traffic and we took advantage". Modoc lost 10-15 lost cars due to threatening weather, but the drivers that were on hand say the new tire rule kept the cars on level playing field from qualifying and into the nights feature.

Chris Madden will lead the Ultimate EAST Series points going into this weekend's make-up of the $10,000 Ultimate EAST March Madness 9 rained out last weekend. All early indicators point to a wonderful weekend of racing ahead, and with several big shows in the surrounding states the Saturday Night before - we can expect an even larger star studded car count. The anticipation continues to build as fans recall last year’s thrilling battle between Dale McDowell and Scott Bloomquist. Bloomquist prevailed with a last lap pass to give the race its 8th different winner in as many years. Past winners of March Madness include: Donnie Moran (2003), Earl Pearson Jr. (2004), Jeff Smith (2005), Chris Madden (2006), Clint Smith (2007), Jimmy Owens (2008), Jonathan Davenport (2009), & Scott Bloomquist (2010).

Top 10 in Ultimate EAST points: 1) Chris Madden, 2) Chris Ferguson, 3) Casey Roberts, 4) Chip Brindle, 5) Bob Robertson, 6) Jeff Smith, 7) Ross Bailes, 8) Jonathan Davenport, 9) Dennis Lunger Jr, 10) Johnny Pursley

Gates will open both days at 11 AM, Drawing at 11:30 AM, Drivers Meeting at 1:00 PM and Hot Laps immediately following. For more information regarding this exciting weekend, please visit http://www.ultimatesupers.com & http://www.cherokeespeedwaysc.com.
