With the 2011 season now underway, the FASTRAK Racing Series is already preparing for the 2011 Grand Nationals. In an effort to increase both the participation and reward for this year’s championship, many exciting changes have been made to this year’s Grand Nationals. The changes were implemented in an effort to simultaneously increase the level of competition and reward those who participate.
“First we wanted to find a way to pay more teams than just the top 24 in Grand Nationals”, stated FASTRAK’s Stan Lester. “With that in mind we designed a program that will guarantee $500 to all teams that compete in all three Grand National events”. While the top 24 teams will be rewarded with the Grand Nationals championship purse, the rest of the teams that participate in all 3 events will receive $500! “FASTRAK is about every track, every team, and every fan”. “I am thrilled to now be able to guarantee these teams the financial return they deserve”.
Secondly, for the first time in FASTRAK history, nights 2 and 3 of the Grand Nationals will be held at the SAME track on the SAME weekend! “This addresses two of the topics that we were looking at”, stated FASTRAK’s Jason Atkins. We were looking for a way to both reduce traveling expenses for our teams as well as a way to increase the level of competition. We have never had a repeat champion and though that sounds competitive enough, we believe this change will only add to the anticipation and spirit of competition. With nights 2 and 3 being held at the same track, the championship contenders get to race each other on the SAME race track with one common goals goal: The 2011 FASTRAK Grand Nationals Championship! By having these final 2 races in one blockbuster weekend, teams will not have to absorb the usual traveling expenses that come with night 2. Instead, they can save that money and make one exciting trip for their final 2 championship races.
Finally, many of the teams have asked that FASTRAK reconsider the timing of the championship payout. Considering the amount of money that is paid and the number of teams that are involved, this is often much easier said than done. However, FASTRAK has made the necessary arrangements and the entire 2011 Grand National and 2011 City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship purse will be paid directly to the drivers the following day after the completion of the Grand Nationals night 3. “I want our teams to get the money they deserve and earned as soon as possible”, stated Lester. “It is their point fund and I think it is imperative that they have it as soon as possible in order to prepare for 2012”.
“FASTRAK remains the premier pro late model series”, stated Lester. “However, we continue to strive for perfection as we look for ways to make our series bigger and better for everyone involved”.
