Gary Christian Notches Biggest Career Late Model Win

Broken Bow, OK (03/21/11) – After what has been a rough stretch for the 17 year old driver, Gary Christian made history on Saturday night by piloting his #33x Pannell Chipping/LCM Cedar Fiber/Mastersbilt/Pro Power Super Late Model to the $2,500 win at Champion Park Speedway (Minden, Louisiana).

The team decided at the last minute to enter an O'Reilly SUPR event on Friday night at USA Speedway (Sterlington, Louisiana). Christian entered the $2,000 to win event at the 1/4 mile bullring, and the night started well as Gary won his heat race to lock into the feature. In the main event, he would go on to record his best finish of the year in the 6th position and a much needed good run in what has been a frustrating start to the year for the team. He picked up the sixth place finish behind race winner, Morgan Bagley, Timothy Culp, Ronny Adams, Allen Tippen, and Kenny Merchant.

Saturday night was a huge step in the young career of Gary Christian as he claimed his second career Super Late Model win and the biggest win to date as he topped the $2,500 to win event at Champion Park Speedway (Minden, Louisiana). In his #33x Mastersbilt, which he had raced for the first time in 2011 the night before, Gary started fifth in his heat race and progressively worked his way through the pack to claim the heat race win by six inches over Timothy Culp. Via passing points, Christian started on the pole for the 50 lap feature. He would snag the lead at the drop of the green flag and never looked back as he rocketed to his first career, series win, which came ahead of hot shoes, Kenny Merchant and Ray Moore. The win was the second of his Super Late Model career and biggest ever. Full weekend results are available at www.DirtOnDirt.com .

Gary will look to carry his momentum into this weekend as he enters the COMP Super Dirt Series Super Late Model event at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) on Saturday night. The $2,000 to win/$400 to start event will be highlighted by a program that includes heat races, b-mains, and a 40 lap feature event at Tracey Clay's, 1/4 mile facility.
