Can the e-bar method be used to install a camshaft on a early style 2.0 ford? Thanks in advance.

Sure can.
Most if not all 2.0 pinto cams are symmetric.

The E-bar method does not consider valve geometry & valve lash, both affecting optimum cam timing/setting. If it's a race engine, and max performance is expected, use a 18" diameter Moroso Pro-Wheel on the crank snout, a dial-indicator on the valve retainers, set 'hot' lash on the valves, and set the cam position as desired. The above procedure/hardware is what the engine valves will 'observe' while running........ except for a very slight amount of drive-belt stretch. -Dave-

Dave,
you ever rotated cam from hex 3/4 s along cam, with belt on and watched flex in belt.
There's your cam dampener right there !
No need to worry about lash difference
