With cloudy skies and cooler weather settling over the 3/8 mile clay oval at Boyd's Speedway friday night, the fans were able to keep warm as the racing heated up in every class. With a full field of cars and again some of the areas biggest stars traveling down to compete for the winner's prize money that has become the norm. As the cars headed out to hot lap they saw drivers Randy Weaver, Anthony White, Jeff Smith, Billy Ogle Jr. Mike Weeks and the list goes on setting the stage for what they knew was going to be some "Hot" racing. The B-Hobby heats were first up and Brandon Shepard and Lee Harbin took their respective heats. Next out would bring a stellar field of Crate Late Models. Heat Race #1 would see Mike Weeks take a hard fought victory over Kenny Kizzar and Jason Welshan. In Heat Race #2 the familar number 116 of Randy "The Dream " Weaver edge out Defending Crate Late Model Track Champion Craig Burrows and a Hard Charging Jeff Smith to earn his front row starting position for the nights feature event. The A-Hobby heats were slated next and the night went south for the Pole sitter in Heat #1 as Jordan Rodabaugh was unable to make it to even start due to mechanical problems. Heat Race # 1 would be won by #37 Blake Armitage followed by Richard Dixon. In heat Race #2 the fan favorite Booger Brooks took another hard fought victory over Corey Cresswell. The 20Steel-Headed Late Models were fielded with some of the areas best drivers Lamar Scoggins, Tony Martin, Billy Ogle Jr, Anthony White, Jamie Perry, Rick Hixson and Jake Knowles. The Heats were won by Lamar Scoggins and Jamie Perry giving them their front row starting positions for the nights feature race. The last of the nights heat races for the FWD division were won by Daniel Burnette and Matt Patton. With all the Heats out of the way and drivers making those final adjustments it was now time to race for the "MONEY". First up would be the B-Hobby Feature, starting from the front row was Brandon Shepard and Lee Harbin. Harbin would take the early lead on lap one only to see Shepard motor underneath him for the lead on lap 2. The two would battle door-to-door for 3 laps until Harbin pushing the envelope spun in turn 2. When the green flag flew again Shepard took command while Harbin fought his way back through the field from the rear. A hard crash on lap 4 would see the #3 Ray Strickland climb the front wall getting into the fence and flipping over several times. Strickland would exit the car unhurt, but his #3 racer was a total loss. Shepard would take the victory followed by Dallas Brooks, Mike Chapman, Corey Sanders and Lee Harbin. The Crate Late Models were up next. A couple of cajun veteran Mike Weeks and Randy "The Dream" Weaver would bring the field to the green. Weaver would take the lead at the drop of the green flag followed by Weeks and Burrows. The fans were watching last weeks winner Jason Welshan and Jeff Smith battle their way to the front. A lap 13 caution would see several cars Todd Stafford, Craig Scott, Craig Reese and Scott Ohms crash on the back stretch ending their night. Weaver would be challenged late by Smith and Welshan. Weaver would take a hard fought victory followed by Smith, Welshan, Weeks and Burrows. The A-Hobby division was called to the track, polesitters Brooks and Armitage was ready to battle for the top prize of the evening. Armitage got the best of Brooks last week taking the victory, but tonight Brooks returned the favor taking a close hard fought victory over Armitage, Cresswell, Jeff McKenzie and Richard Dixson. The Steel-Headed Late Model Feature was up next. Polesitters Lamar Scoggins and Jamie Perry would bring the field to the green, Scoggins would take the early lead at the drop of the green. On lap 4 Perry would battle past Scoggins for the lead, the two would battle door-to door two wide for laps. Perry would begin slicing through the lap traffic like a knife cutting through hot butter with Scoggins in tow. Perry would go on to take the victory followed by Scoggins, Billy Ogle Jr, Tony Martin, Mike Pierce and Jake Knowles. The last feature of the night so James Dykes pass David Singleton on the next to the last lap to take the FWD feature event. The racing was over and the fans got their monies worth on this night. Great Job by the Boyd's Speedway crew getting started on time and being over by 10:20. "GOOD JOB" Next week the Super Late Models come to the 3/8 mile clay oval with the $3000 to win "SRRS" Super Late Models.
