STARS MDRL, Rocky Top Raceway Announce “Buckeye Classic”
COAL GROVE, OH-The STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League is proud to team with the Rocky Top Raceway to bring the first “Buckeye Classic”. The Buckeye Classic will take place on Monday, July 4th at the Rocky Top Raceway and pay the winner of the 60 lap feature event $10,000. This will be the largest race in Rocky Top Raceway track history and will be the marquee event on the STARS MDRL 2011 tour.
“We are really excited about the opportunity to team with Rocky Top Raceway and bring the Buckeye Classic”, stated STARS MDRL President Chris Tilley. “The addition of a $10,000 to win show on the STARS MDRL schedule is huge. We’ve already been talking to race teams about the event and the response so far has been great.”
“We’re very excited to have the first ever $10,000 to win race in RTR history”, stated RTR President T. J. Layne. “We’ve always wanted to have a $10,000 to win Late Model event and the timing this year came perfect with everything that is going on in the region July 4th weekend. After such a storied past, it’ll be great to see STARS return to southern Ohio for a $10,000 to win event.”
The STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League will also make an appearance at the Rocky Top Raceway on Friday, April 29th for the “Rocky Top 50” paying $5,000 to win. The 2011 STARS MDRL campaign begins on Friday, April 22nd with the “4th Annual Estes/Pena Memorial” at the Ponderosa Speedway, an event that will pay $3,000 to win. The 2011 season for the Rocky Top Raceway gets underway on Friday April 15th with a regular $2,000 to win Late Model event.
