Oiling problem

Got a problem I haven't seen on here. Just finished a rebuild on my 2300. Before cranking, checked oil with the drill on the oil pump shaft and had good oil to the head and about 60 pounds pressure. Started the motor and it ran great, 60-70 pounds pressure at throttle, about 30 at idle. Went to change out the break in oil, removed the filter, and it was completely dry. No sign of any oil circulating through it. Any suggestions?

don't know what the problem was, but i replaced the filter with a new one and all's well. one of those things i'll never understand.

Just wondering, what brand of filter was it?

The filter was a Wix, their equivalent to the Fram PH8A that most of the old Ford V8's used. I've always used them and never had any problems before.
