Dont really think you will see or feel any difference really. Not only so you shell out the money for the cam, but to do it correctly, you should get headers made for that cam configuration too. Some claim its smoother, but as far as raw seat of the pants HP, I think your money is better spent on other areas like a light weight gear set, reducing unsprung weight, etc.

They kill off a little low end to help get initial traction (if the engine is cammed right) without losing the hp up top. You can also offset too much intial loss with a little more compression. Still pretty smooth power, not more power, but smooth, especially in something like a 377.
Dont pay any more for a 4/7 swap than you would a regular firing order cam tho. Some companies charge more for them.

We blew up an engine mid week in a late model. Had to have one ready to go for the weekend. Only cam we could get right away was a used 4-7 swap. Almost the same specs as the cam we had....no noticeable differences in driveability or HP.

we have a few people in the area that sware by them. but in our shop and race team we dont use them or recomend them. everyone has there opinions, but personally the extra money you spend on a 4-7 swap is better spent on something else.

i had a 501 502 lift 4-7 swap cam and on the engine dyno they made the same numbers as a 500 lift cam. the 4-7 swap had a slightly smoother power and torque line than the reg cam. as far as driving it there was no difference at all. both cams had almost identical numbers.

dam i miss bill h.

all a 7-4 cam gonna do is make for smother harmonics of the motor,..an help it live a lil longer!! lobe profile of any cam should be matched to heads an intake an exhaust of motor,.. regular or 4-7 swap...wont make no more power than any other cam with same lobes...
