If your rearend is apart just count the teeth

4:86 = Pinion gear has 7 teeth, Ring has 34

4:11 = Pinion gear has 8 teeth, Ring has 33

If its together, the only way I know would be to contact Manufacturer and give them serial # off top, maybe they could tell you that way!!

Just use some simple math and do it however you need to but you don't have to take it apart.
Just take the QC gears out of it and spin the hub exactly three full turns while someone else counts the number of turns on the pinion shaft (that's the top one in the back). If it's a 4.11, it will about 12.33 turns. If it's a 4.86, it will turn about 14.58 turns.

I would just take a 7.00 gear set for a 4.86 r&p of transfer gear and drop in. Mark and turn the yoke and if it makes about 7 round to 1 of the hubs, it's probably a 4.86 if not it's something else.
