Jonathan Davenport found himself in the right place at the right time in front of a packed house Saturday Night at Mike Fulp's high speed 311 Speedway this past Saturday Night. West Virginia's Steve Shaver won the Shell Racing Solutions Fast Time Award and dominated most of the event.
Shaver and Davenport put on a great show swapping the lead several times passing each other using both the high and low grooves of the speedway. Late in the race Davenport made one last charge but could not complete the pass for the lead. Shaver looked to be on his way to another 2011 victory as the white flag flew for the final lap - but a flat tire while exiting turn 2 would end those chances. Davenport completed the pass and went on for his 2nd Ultimate Series victory in a row. Austin Dillon finished 2nd, Defending Series Champion Casey Roberts 3rd, Shaver salvaged a 4th place finish and Daniel Baggerly rounded out the top 5.
