Bert / Brim Starter Problem

Starter motor is fine but the gear (bendix) won't stay engaged.. Is there a kit I can find at regular auto parts store to fix this thing like you do on regular car starters?

Was told its nothing more than a Nissan starter but not sure enough to head out and buy parts yet..

Any help appreciated..
