SCOGGINS CHARGES FORWARD WINS TWIN #1 CLEVELAND LATE MODEL SPECIAL

Cleveland, TN (4/9/11) --- Late Model veteran Lamar Scoggins (# 32) of Georgetown, Tennessee won his second consecutive feature Saturday night in the first TWIN 25 race at Cleveland Speedway. A pair of $1,000 to-WIN races showcased the nights action and the # 32 "M&S Motors, Chambers Equipment Sales, Bodies by Rick Hixson" GRT / Race Engine Design racer put the petal to the metal blowing by the competiton during the first 25 lap segment. The leader of the LITCHMOB Justin Litchford (runner-up to Scoggins a week ago) and former track champion John Owenby were race #1's FRONT ROW JOE's and it was LIL' JOHN taking the early advantage. Scoggins using a patiented low-line manuever pressured Owenby and would make the winning pass prior to the races halfway point. The race was stopped at the conclusion of the 25 laps when ($100) fast qualifier William Thomas and Justin Litchford tangled under the checkers, leaving Litchford turned in-front of the field. Denny Slayton racing Bobby Mayse came and slammed into the parked machine ending both racers nights. Slayton was taken to a local hospital with back pain.

Scoggins drew an invert of 8-positions for the second 25-lapper, putting himself and runner-up Owenby in the 4th row. As the green flag flew, pole sitter Rick Hixson and Tanner Works tangled averting the initial start. Works got into the lead from the CAT-BIRDS SEAT and led the entire race. Brian Pritchard pressured Works but would settle for second. Thomas and Scoggins battled against and past Hixson for finishes 3rd thru 5th. "I got alot of friends and family that help out behind the scenes and it really shows being able to be this competitive on a weekly basis" claimed Scoggins in a telephone conversation this week. In other racing action Booger Brooks won his third (and 99th career) feature of the season in the Limited division. Jason Brown won the Hobby, Scott Ledford won the Pony and and Matt Patton won the FWD race. Plans for this coming weekend are for two nights of competiton for Scoggins, beginning Friday night at Boyd's Speedway in the Steel-Head LM division, then returning Saturday night to the home track in Cleveland, TN for the 30 lap Late Model feature.
