UFo Schedule Goes Full Throttle in May!
(Mars, PA) – After a phenomenal season opener at the “Topless 51” at Tyler County Speedway, the UFo Race Championship will take a 5 week break before going full throttle in the month of May. The tour will span 4 consecutive weeks of racing beginning May 14th at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway. Events at Thunder Valley Raceway, Hesston Speedway and Tyler County Speedway then follow.
The UFo pilots will clash with drivers from the ULMS tour at the “PENNational” at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 14. This stellar event will showcase twin 28-lap UFo/ULMS Super Late Model features, with a total of $4,000 to win both races or $2,000 to win each race. The UFo twin feature format always provides spectacular racing and distributes the payoff more evenly among the race teams. The 100-ft wide surface at PPMS is the stage for 3 and 4 wide racing action. John Flinner of Zelienople, PA and Mike Johnson of Imperial, PA split the wins in 2010.
As an added bonus to the “PENNational,” the UEMS E-mod tour will hold its 1st event of 2011 at PPMS that night. That race will pay $700 to the winner. The track’s FASTRAK Pro-Lates, Cadets, Hobby and Young Guns will also be on the racing program. The rain date for the “PENNational” will be Sunday, May 15.
Gates will open at 5:00 with warm-ups at 6:00 and racing at 7:00 PM. Adult admission will be $20 with Seniors $19, Juniors
13-16 $10, Children 7-12 $5. Pit admission will be $35.

The UFo Race Championship will descend upon the Thunder Valley Raceway on Saturday, May 21 for the “Shawn McGarvey Showdown.” This special race is dedicated to one of the area’s greatest champions. The first UFo feature at TVR has been 1 year in the making as the event was attempted 3 times in 2010 at TVR under the UFo banner. Rain washed out the event each time, including once with 3 heat races completed. The track finally presented the race as an independent show because of the lack of available dates on the tour.
The UFo “Shawn McGarvey Showdown” will feature a 38P lap championship paying $3,008P to win. Greg Fetters of Bedford, PA is the defending race Champion. The Semi-Late/Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, 4-Cylinders and new Cruiser class will also be on the program. TVR is built in a park-like setting in the Laurel Highlands of PA and includes grandstand, lawn chair and drive-in viewing for fans.

The UFo Race Championship will make its debut at the Hesston Speedway on Sunday night, May 29. UFo “Triple TnT” will be a bonanza for late model fans as the event will include three 25-lap late model-type championship races. The UFo Super Late Models will compete in twin 25-lap features paying $4,000 to win both, or $2,000 to win each. The track’s Late Model Sportsman (limited/steel block/crate late models) class will also run a 25-lap championship paying $1,000 to the winner.
The Pro-Street, Hobby, Mod-4 and Factory-4 divisions will also be in competition at Hesston. Hesston will use a unique 2-session format schedule where these four divisions will warm-up and compete in their heat races and or consolations beginning at 5:00 to approximately 7:00 PM. The track will be completely re-prepped followed by Super Late Model and Late Model Sportsman warm-ups, heats an consolations beginning at approximately 7:30 PM with features for all classes following. Gates are scheduled to open at 3:30 PM.
Hesston continues to undergo mass renovation. The relocation of the outer pit area, expanded spectator parking and additional turn seating are among the 2011 improvements to the facility. The exit of turn 4 has been re-banked to provide even better racing action on the 4/10 mile.

UFo will return to the Tyler County Speedway on Saturday, June 4 for the “King of the Bullring.” This Area-51 lap feature will pay $4,000 to the winner. The 2011 UFo season opening “Topless 51” at Tyler County provided amazing racing action with a strong field of 40 Super Late Models. After 51 laps, Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, WV roared from 13th on the grid to take the win over his brother Jacob who started 17th. 12th starting Robbie Scott, 9th starting Paul Wilmoth Jr. and 21st starting Mike Benedum followed. The top 10 finishers advances 74 positions at the “Topless 51.”
