Modifieds:

All cars draw for heat race starting positions. (Friday is practice only-NO time trials this year.)

USMTS-style/SUPR-style passing points will be used in the heat races. Those passing points will be used to line up qualifying races for the Mods. Every one will have the opportunity to run a heat race & a qualifying race as a minimum. 20 cars transfer from qualifying races to the 50-lap A main.

‎***NEW for this year***

The top 12 cars from heat race passing points who do NOT transfer from their qualifier to the A will get one last chance qualifier. Top 3 cars transfer from it and that will give us 23 in the A.

Then, the 24th starting spot will be drawn from the non-qualifiers who drop their ticket in the can/bucket just like we've been doing....pays $250 just to start on NO entry fee & just a $30 pit pass.

The 25th spot will be auctioned off to the highest bidder like last year. Billy Collett from Mississippi took that spot last year for something like $750! Well, it does pay $5000 to win, $2500 for 2nd and has a total purse of about $16,000!!!

While that is going on, the track crew might be out there working the track. We may run later than we want but we really want you guys to have the REAL Ark-La-Tex track like the Late Models had at the Pelican or like we see every week. If that 50-lapper can be as good as any Modified feature we have had this year you newcomers will be in for a real treat indeed! 95-100 degrees this week doesn't help but the wind is laying down (THAT DOES HELP, believe me!!!) & rain doesn't seem to be in the picture. I'd take a frog-strangler right now but sure don't need it Friday or Saturday. Rain date is Sunday.

Support classes include Limited Modifieds (Southern Sport Mods) & Factory Stocks. Limited Mods pay $600 to win. Heads-up show. Draw for heat race starting spot and no passing points. Like a regular show.

Factory Stocks pays $200 to win and ALL Factory Stocks are guaranteed an A-main for this show.

And if your missing the Modified time trials this year, you're in some luck if you can hang with us. Practice this Friday at Ark-La-Tex and then by all means, don't miss this year's Doug Murphrey Memorial on Saturday!

But then starting Sunday, you can time-trial for 7 straight days! SMP will use transponders & time trial qualifying all seven nights of the SMP Speedweek. That should help keep it easier on equipment.

About 35 Mods practiced last night. I figure that's about half-the-field we're going to have.

It's going to be a really competitive race!
