The Lowdown on the Showdown in Sarvertown
Garrett Krummert is ready to be a factor!

Sarver, PA (April 24, 2010) The first big Late Model race of the season is upon us as the All Star Late Model Series is set to invade the Action Track this Friday, April 29 for the $5,000-to-win Showdown in Sarvertown. Originally sanctioned as a World of Outlaws Late Model Series race in early spring, the Showdown in Sarvertown nickname was transferred to the All Star’s spring race last season due to the expansion of the Firecracker 100 as a three-day World of Outlaws sanctioned Mega-Event.

The All Star Late Model Series is a regional touring series and features a lot of the biggest stars in Fab Four Racing. One of the fastest rising stars in the local Late Model scene is Garrett Krummert. Krummert cut his teeth in the Small Block Modifieds at Mercer Raceway Park where he won four features. Two seasons ago, he debuted as the first driver of the KGR #43 sprint car owned by Kelsey George. Last season he hit the triple play by joining the Super Late Model ranks full time. Now in his second full season in a full-fendered racecar, Krummert is ready to make a splash this weekend at the Showdown in Sarvertown against the region’s top late model drivers!

While it may seem crazy to switch into what is arguably the most competitive division in the area, Krummert is confident that he’s finally found a home in the Super Late Model ranks, “The Late Model deal is the way to go right now,” stated Krummert. “There are about 12 tracks in a two hour radius we can run; we feel very comfortable with the super late model deal. Right now we’re just trying to log laps and figure this deal out.”

“Figuring the deal out” is a huge part of the equation in a big event like the Showdown in Sarvertown, as the All Stars use a time trial format as opposed to the weekly pill draw for heat race lineups. Of the big event format, Krummert remarked, “Time trial shows put a lot of pressure on a driver and crew early on in the night. A bad qualifying run can put you behind for the rest of the night. Our strategy is to go out and try to cut a good lap to set us up for a good run in the heat race, then hopefully the Showdown in Sarvertown A-Main.”

With the local weather cutting in to the shakedown time of the season, Krummert made the tow out to Attica Raceway Park two weeks ago to get some seat time and run with the talented UMP/DIRTcar Late Models in Western OH. In his first laps on the track, Garrett won his heat race! And while he only finished 15th in the feature, the seat time was invaluable!

Racing “at home”, as Krummert found out during the feature at Attica, has its advantages. “We have a better idea what the track surface will do here, as well as the confidence that goes along with running on a track that you’re comfortable at!” And while the team is more comfortable at the Action Track, Garrett is keeping his expectations realistic, “Winning a big race at Lernerville would be huge for us, but right now we’ll be happy to just make the feature!”

Garrett drives a family owned Rocket Chassis powered by a Rider Racing Engine. Ryan Haney serves as the crew chief, leading crew members Jo, Amy and Gabrielle. 2011 sponsors on the Krummert #29 are Pro Shot Directional Boring, McElwain Motors, Approved Toilet Rentals, Showtime Designs, Turbo Start Racing Batteries and Krummert Automotive.

The Friday Night’s Showdown in Sarvertown featuring the All Star Late Model Series, will set the stage for the upcoming 5th Annual Firecracker 100 presented GottaRace.com in late June. With 50 laps and $5,000 on the line, a loaded field of Late Model drivers is expected and at just $20 for adult general admission, the bang for your buck is unmatched! Seniors tickets are $18, students (11-17 years old) are just $15 and, as always, kids 10 & under are FREE! Gates open at 5:00, with hot laps set for 7:00, followed by time trials. The DIRTcar Pro Late Models and UMP Modifieds are also on the Showdown in Sarvertown card.
