STARS Volunteer Racing Series opens busy May with stops at Boyd’s and Tazewell
SOMERSET, KY (April 27, 2011)—After a few week break, the STARS Volunteer Racing Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts will be back in action for a double header weekend to open a busy month of racing in May.
The STARS VRS Late Model gang will head to Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA on Friday Night May 6th for a $3,000 to win then head north to the Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the series’ first-ever appearance on Saturday Night May 7th.
The event on Friday Night May 6th at the Gar (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son promoted Boyd’s Speedway will feature the STARS VRS Late Models racing for $3,000 to win / $300 to start. This will be the first of three series appearances to the Speedway and fourth-ever visit with Ronnie Johnson, Billy Ogle Jr. and Skip Arp picking up victories during the 2010 series stops. The track mandates that mufflers are mandatory for the Super Late Models. The Crate Late Models, A & B Hobby and Front Wheel Drive classes will also be in attendance.
The Saturday Night May 7th event at the Gary Hall promoted facility of Tazewell Speedway will feature the STARS VRS Late Models for a $3,000 to win / $300 to start event while the Tazewell Late Models, Modified Street, Classics, Street Stocks and 4-Cylinders will also be on the racing card.
There will be a complete show of practice, Group Time Trials, Consolation Races and the 40-lap Main event each night. The VRS Late Model tire rule is as follows: Open Front, Hoosier LM40/1600 and American Racer MD-56 on the REAR. It is mandatory that these tires punch 60 with the durometer before any qualifying or race.
The gates open at 4:00 pm EST with Hot Laps slated for 7:00 pm at Boyd's Speedway. Adult Grandstand Admission will be $15.00 with Pit Passes being $30.00.
The pit gates open at 3:00 pm EST with the Grandstand Gates opening at 5:00 p.m. at Tazewell Speedway. Adult Grandstand Admission is $17.00 with Pit Passes being $30.00.
