(Middlebourne, W.V. 5-1-11) Mother Nature finally let Tyler County open it’s gates for only the second time this year. With nearly 100 cars filling the pits, the Bullring had some exciting racing in all classes. Plus a lot of happy kids.

It was McDonalds Dusty’s Kids Club Easter egg hunt and bike night. As C & S Photos (2), Josh Coffman, Derek Doll, Paul Wilmoth Jr., Billy Brown, Jacob Lash, Derek Rogers and “Buckwheat” Wright donated bicycles to be given away. Steve Wilmoth contributed the trophies and ribbons. The six baskets and 300 eggs for the hunt were provided by Tyler County Speedway, C & S Photos, Wetzel’s Collectibles and McDonalds.

After racing April 9 on their way home, FASTRAK driver Cody Rogers and his girlfriend Shelly Lowe were involved in a accident on Rt. 50. Shelly is in rehab at Health South in Morgantown due to her injuries. After drivers passed their helmets, the Tyler faithful raised $705. The Tyler staff and Circle Track Management continue their thoughts and prayers for Shelly’s recovery.

To start the evening off were the fogged out features from April 9. In the Sigler Fabrication Hot Mods, Kenny Isner held off Travis Thomas for the victory. Curtis Watson crossed in third while Devin Verardi and Levi Flesher were fourth and fifth.
Isner has Mike’s Auto Body and Norris Tire on the side of the car.

In the Herrington – Yoak Ford and Pre Owned Auto Mod Lites, The AAA Homes sponsored machine of Brandon Fluharty fended off Steve Weekly to recieve the checkers. Mitch Ward was third, Josh Baldwin was fourth and Mitch Herrick crossed in fifth.

The Dodd’s Sporting Goods Late Models then took center stage as it took four tries to get a green flag lap in. When the first circuit was counted, Mike Benedum held the point with Paul Wilmoth Jr., Steve Weigle, Steve Wilmoth and Andy Bond in tow. The yellow fell quickly as Tyler Carpenter and Jeremy Misel got together in turn four on lap two. On the restart the front duo were locked door to door circling the Ľ mile. Wilmoth nosed ahead on lap eight, when the caution waved again the very next go round. The yellow fest continued as it was displayed on laps 11, 15, the restart of 15 and 18.
Wilmoth, Benedum, Weigle, Bond, and Butch McGill now occupied the top five. When the checkers fell Wilmoth notched his first win of the season, with Benedum and Weigle second and third. McGill got around Bond for fourth. Wilmoth is sponsored by Midcap Land and Timber and Adkins Timber.

Defending track Champion Kyle Thomas in his Aluminum Service Center / Joy’s Disposal #57 lead flag to flag in the United Rental FASTRAK crate motor Late Models enroute to his second checkerboard. Sonny Conley chased Thomas the entire distance but could not make a successful bid for the lead. Derek Doll crossed the stripe in third. Daniel Hill was fourth, and Jacob Lash climbed from ninth to finish fifth.

In the ‘edge of your seat’ Bridgeport Equipment and Tool TSMA Modifieds saw Jess Hartman blast to the point with Mike Wilson hot on his tail. Third running Mark (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son soon joined the fray as his slipped by Wilson for second. (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son hounded Hartman circuit after circuit. With only two cautions slowing action Hartman held (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son at bay while the laps clicked off. On the final go round, (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son peeked to the outside exiting turn four and pulled even with Hartman. The duo ran door to door through turns one and two with (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son getting better bite coming out of turn two and nosed to the lead. In the A – M Commodities / Fannin Farms #0, (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son would collect his first checkers of the year finishing ahead of Hartman. Matt Holcomb, Andy Bond (from deep in the field) and Wilson filled out the top five.

The Sigler Fabrication Hot Mods saw Devin Verardi put his Wheeling Tire / Lisa’s Hair Um in victory lane as he bested Travis Thomas on a late pass. Kurt Burge, Bill Sigmon, and Kenny Isner were third through fifth.

Brandon Fluharty scored the daily double. He parked his AAA Homes sponsored car in victory circle in the Herrington – Yoak Ford and Pre Owned Auto Mod Lites for the second time in one night. Josh Baldwin finished second. Beau Newlon was third, Steve Weekly fourth and Mitch Ward rounded out the top five.

Bill Doll made a late pass on Billy Bunnell to score the Champion Sport Cards & Trophies Eco Flyer 4 Cylinders win. Donnie Wamsley, Alex Mosser, and David Bunnell finished behind. Doll has sponsorship from D.A.C.

For the second week in a row Trey Watson driving his Sam Watson Trucking #T17 won the Outlaw Graphics and Automotive Services MWRA Mini Wedges. Watson finished ahead of Georgie Tennett, Shayla Griffey, Tiffany Jackson and Scott Perrine. Tennett and Brandon Weigle won the heats.

Next week at the Bullring, Mother’s Day is celebrated with the 5th annual Tammy Clegg Memorial with a powder puff race in the Hot Mods. Plus Dusty’s Kids Club will be planting flowers and making a poem card for their Moms.
