Alcohol Fuel Now Legal for Modifieds at Ponderosa; Mustang Mayhem Reset for June 3

Junction City, KY- May 2, 2011- Ponderosa Speedway track promoters Donnie Sullivan and family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for supporting them at their 2011 season and wish to announce a rules change for one division and a date move for another division.

Beginning this Friday May 6, alcohol type fuel will now be legal to use in the Ken Towery’s Auto Tires and Super Service Modified division. The track has gotten an arrangement worked out with the track’s insurance provider and the use of alcohol type race fuel will now be all right. All racers using the alcohol type race fuel must have an onboard fire extinguisher located in the drivers compartment.

Also of note, the Mustang Mayhem event that had been scheduled for the SkyTower Power Race Engines for this Friday May 6 has been moved and will now take place on Friday June 3.

The next race at Ponderosa Speedway will be this Friday May 6 and will be the 4th Annual Chris Estes/Brad Pena Memorial event for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, with the main event being a 40 lap, $1,500 to win for the Super Late Models. The Super Late Model division will be the only class to time trial, as all other divisions will pill draw for heat race starting positions. Race fans can bring along their portable radio and headsets and listen to all the action as it is called on the track’s 105.9 radio frequency.

This event will also be a benefit for the Logan Whitis family and part of the event’s proceeds will be donated to Logan and his wife Kellie to help offset the climbing medical cost of treatment of their youngest son’s rare medical condition. The Whitis family has been long time supporters of Ponderosa Speedway and Logan is a former competitor in both the Sportsman and Pro Late Model divisions.

Activities for the May 6 Chris Estes/Brad Pena Memorial event will see the pit area and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. Also of note, sign in to the pit area will return to the back pit gate as it has been in years past.
