With the STARS VRS SUPER LATE MODELS invading the 1/3 mile clay oval of Boyds Speedway for the first time in 2011 and 33 cars signed in to compete for the top prize of $3000 the fans were sure to get their monies worth tonight. With preliminary heats up first in each of the local divisions, B-hobby winners was Dallas Brooks and Ronnie Brooks. In Crate Late Models Jason Welshan secured the pole by winning the first heat with Mike Weeks taking the second. A-Hobby winners were Jordan Rodabaugh and Booger Brooks and the final heats of the FWD were taken by Matt Patton and James Dykes. As qualifying got underway with 2 groups qualifying for the top five spots for the inside and outside rows respectfully, with the remaining competitors placed in one of two last chance B-Main's to try and secure their starting position for the nights 40 lap Feature. With qualifying underway with two cars qualifying at a time Georgetown's Skip Arp took the pole for the nights Feature in Group 1 followed by Chip Brindle, Brandon Kinzer, Kayne Hickman and William Thomas. A brief delay to reset the timing device the second group was quickly on their way to qualifying. Florence, Alabama's Josh Putnam would secure the outside pole position followed by Jason Welshan, Chris Wall, Anthony Burroughs and Tony Knowles. As the line-ups for remaining 23 cars were being placed into two B-Mains the B-Hobby's were called to the track for the nights first Feature Event. With a pair of Brooks starting up front Dallas Brooks quickly took control and took yet another feature event followed by Corey Sanders, Walter Sims, Roy Baker and Tim Totherow. The first of the two STARS VRS B-MAIN'S were lined up and ready to roll. Shane Clanton and Dale McDowell led the group to the green. McDowell would take a easy victory over Clanton, Eric Jacobsen, Tim Busha and Bub McCool. The second STARS VRS B-MAIN rolled off with "THE CHATTANOOGA FLASH" Ronnie Johnson leading the way with Jacob Grizzle in tow they were followed to the checkered by Jake Knowles, Chuck Proctor and Ron Davies. The two provisionals were Derek Ellis and Davy Davis. The field was set for the 40 lapper but first we had local division that were ready to finish. The Crate Late Model was first up with Jason Welshan and Mike Weeks leading the way. Weeks would take the early lead with Welshan all over the rear bumper of Weeks. A lap 4 caution for David McIntosh and Craig Burrows would slow the field ending both competitors nights with heavy damaged to their rides. On the restart Weeks lost the handle going into turn 2 and pushed high giving Welshan the opening he needed and he jumped on the opportunity taking the lead on lap 5 and never looked back. Welshan took another Victory over Mike Weeks, Skip Arp (coming from his 9th starting position ), Jeff Smith and David Tindell. The call was made to the STARS VRS LATE MODELS to bring the racers to the front for their 40 lap Feature Event. Welshan would have to start the STARS VRS FEATURE with the same Crate Late Model he had just finished in when he crashed his Super Late Model ride during a late hot lap session. Skip Arp and Josh Putnam brought the fans to their feet in a ceremonial parade lap to the fans. As the green flag flew Arp took the early command with Putnam right behind him. A early caution for a spin by William Thomas that also collected Dale McDowell. McDowell retired his ride with heavy front nose damage, Thomas continued with a ride that was bent on every corner. On the restart Arp continued his control of the field but as they began to work into slower traffic Putnam began to pressure Arp. With several back markers refusing to yield to the leaders Putnam choose the right lane ahead of Arp and took the lead. Putnam would take a hard fought victory over Chip Brindle (with a late race pass of Arp ), Skip Arp, Chris Wall and Brandon Kinzer rounding out the top five. With two races to go A-Hobby division was up next, in what may have been one of the best races of the night. Brooks, Rodabaugh and Blake Armitage weren't going to be outdone by the Super Late racers that had just finished. The three local competitors raced three wide lap after lap each taking the lead. Rodabaugh would hold off Brooks early as Armitage fought to find a way around the two that were racing side by side. Armitage took the lead with a daring pass to the bottom of the three wide racing only to have Brooks regain two laps later. As Brooks and Armitage raced door to door, Armitage would loose control in turn two spinning his ride around placing him at the rear for the restart. Brooks would take the victory over Rodabaugh, Chuck Cooper, Tony Todd and Jeff McKenzie. In the last Feature Event the FWD's were up, Matt Patton would continue his winning ways by taking a easy victory over Jame Dykes, David Singleton, Richard Hickman and Daniel Burnette.

Great show, Thanks to all the hard work by the staff of Boyds Speedway. On a heavier note, the food was outstanding as well. Just a great place to come an watch racing!
