Luke Roffers leads Mike Gault by just 6 points and 1st through 7th are separated by a mere 100 points

The stars of the Carolina Clash are ready to tackle the closed confinements of Friendship Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 14 for a $4,000 to win event with $2,000 in contingency awards and prizes. Luke Roffers currently holds onto the points lead by just 6 points over 2nd place contender Mike Gault. Tim Allen currently sits 7th in points and trails Roffers by just 100 points. With such a tight point's battle, the top 7 could switch positions drastically after this event.

So far this season, Roffers has two wins coming at Fayetteville Motor Speedway and Cleveland County Speedway. Chris Ferguson has one win on the season which came at Carolina Speedway. Johnny Pursley won the last Carolina Clash race held which took place at Lancaster Motor Speedway last weekend.

Chad Paxton currently sits atop the Klotz Lubricants Rookie of the Year standings followed by Mike Huey and Travis Yow. Just 21 points separate Huey and Yow for 2nd place in the ROY standings.

In 2010, Ricky Weeks was able to sweep both races at Friendship Motor Speedway (FMS). The first Carolina Clash event was held at the end of May with Ricky Weeks setting fast time followed by Chris Meadows in 2nd. When the cars took to the track, Weeks set sail and wouldn't be caught again, winning the race with Chris Ferguson coming home in second. Third was Dan Breuer, fourth was Luke Roffers, and fifth was Dean Bowen.

In the second appearance for the Carolina Clash at FMS, fans saw one of the best finishes of the year. As the cars crossed the start/finish line to get the white flag, Weeks had about a half car lead over Franklin who made a last ditched effort to pass Weeks in turns 3 and 4 but was unable to make the move stick giving the win to Weeks. Dennis Franklin would cross the line in second followed by Jeff Smith still running the high side just inches away from the wall. Crossing the line in 4th was Jay Sessoms and 5th was Raymond Brown in his best finish with the Carolina Clash this season.

Along with the Carolina Clash, FMS will also be holding an NDRA Crate Late Model race paying extra money to win. Also on the racing card for the evening will be limited sportsman, super stock 4, renegades, and U-cars. Gates open at 3pm with the drivers meeting scheduled for 5pm.

FMS produced some of the best side by side racing of the year in 2010 and 2011 will be no different. Please make plans as the stars of the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series battle at the bullring this weekend to see who can come out on top. Will it be Luke Roffers? Mike Gault? Or another Carolina Clash competitor? You'll have to be there to find out. With the Carolina Clash, you buy the whole seat, but you'll only need the edge.
