Jimmy Mars Sweeps Weekend in Wisconsin; Prepares for Big Month of May!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his Mars Racing team were scheduled to head south to the Paducah (KY) International Raceway over the May 6-7 weekend, but extreme flooding cancelled the weekend at PIR and instead kept the #28 team close to home. The schedule change paid off, as Jimmy swept a pair of weekly shows at the nearby Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin and the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. The pair of victories were Jimmy's second and third of the young 2011 racing season!

On Friday night at Red Cedar, Jimmy won his heat race and later rolled off from the second row in the $1,000 to win main event. He grabbed the top spot on lap five and led the final fifteen circuits en route to the triumph at his hometown oval over Jake Redetzke, Chad Mahder, Mike Prochnow, and Ashley Anderson. On Saturday evening at Cedar Lake, Jimmy once again won his prelim prior to blasting off from the seventh spot in the A-Main. The Menomonie, Wisconsin native methodically worked his way to the front of the field and led the final stages of the race to record the $1,200 win over Rick Hanestad, Adam Hensel, Tim Isenberg, and Chad Mahder. “We had a good weekend racing here around home and it is always fun to race in front of a bunch of family, fans, and sponsors,” commented Mars earlier today from the Mars Racing shop. “It was also great for me to be racing wheel-to-wheel with a bunch of our clients and be there in the pit area to bounce ideas off of with setups. We are going to take this upcoming weekend off, but after that, we are going to be full-tilt for the rest of the year!”

The #28 team will take the upcoming May 13-14 weekend off from racing action, as Jimmy will be attending the wedding of his Brother-In-Law. However, the Mars Racing team will stay busy at the shop in the upcoming days prepping their equipment for a big month of May. Jimmy is scheduled to compete in the ‘Bad Boy Mowers 98’ at the Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas on May 20-21, the ‘Show-Me 100’ at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on May 27-28, and the ‘Budweiser 50’ at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois on May 29.
