Rick Eckert Victorious in Pine Tree 50 at Swainsboro; Takes WOOLMS Point Lead to DIS!

(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) The Rick Eckert Racing team had a huge weekend in the Peachtree State of Georgia on May 7-8, as they picked up their first victory of the 2011 racing season and took over the World of Outlaws Late Model Series point lead! On Saturday night, the #24 team rolled into the Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia for the 'Pine Tree 50.' Rick Eckert timed in ninth quickest during WOOLMS qualifying and later finished second in his heat race. After drawing the pole position for the 50-lap main event, Rick paced the stout field from flag-to-flag to score the convincing $10,000 victory. "Scrub" beat Chub Frank, Darrell Lanigan, Vic Coffey, and Tim McCreadie to the checkers to claim the win.

On Sunday, the dirt-slinging action quickly turned to the Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, Georgia for a special $8,000 to win Mothers Day showdown. Rick laid down the third quickest lap during qualifying and won his stacked heat race. After drawing the sixth starting spot prior to the 40-lapper, the York, Pennsylvania native improved a couple of spots en route to a solid fourth place effort behind only winner Clint Smith, Chub Frank, and Josh Richards. Rick has now taken over the World of Outlaws Late Model Series point lead by virtue of his strong start to the season. Full results from the doubleheader weekend in Georgia can be accessed online by visiting www.worldofoutlaws.com.

“It was a great weekend for us and hopefully we can keep things rolling,” exclaimed Eckert tonight via telephone. “I was kind of in the doghouse for missing my daughter Courtney’s college graduation on Saturday, but I think the win at Swainsboro smoothed things over a little bit. The car has been running great, the crew has been working hard, and everything has been gelling lately. I am looking forward to Delaware and Winchester this weekend, we’ll see if we can get our second win of the season!”

The #24 team will take the point lead into the Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, Delaware this Thursday, May 12. Following an off-day on Friday, the Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Virginia will complete the Mid-Atlantic doubleheader on Saturday, May 14. Both World of Outlaws Late Model Series programs will pay $10,000 to the winner. Additional information on these shows can be viewed by clicking on www.worldofoutlaws.com.
