CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region point leader Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL took his third win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the ADP Special to highlight Week 9 action.

It was a one-two finish at Talladega Short Track for Elkins and the second-place driver in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL in the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT. Elkins has a 31-point lead in the OMG East Region standings over Gauldin.

Talladega Short Track drivers occupy the first four spots in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings. Elkins has 501 points and Gauldin has 470 points. Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL is third with 460 points, and Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is fourth with 459 points.

Drivers from Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL hold down the fifth and sixth spots in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region standings. Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is fifth with 395 points, and Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL is sixth with 390 points. Flomaton Speedway will open Week 10 NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region competition tonight.

Regular NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region competitors at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA are in the seventh and eighth spots of the OMG East Region standings. Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA is seventh with 369 points and Russ Ogletree of Phenix City, AL is eighth with 362 points.

Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL did not compete in Week 9 NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region action and dropped to ninth in the standings with 326 points. TST regular Brett Holmes of Eastaboga, AL was another Week 9 no show and dropped into a three-way tie for tenth in the OMG East Region standings at 316 points with Trey White of Jenkinsburg, GA and Ken Pate of Pell City, AL.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Week 9 action, Doug Stephens of Griffin, GA picked up his first win of the season on Saturday night at New Senoia Raceway driving the American Pie Pizza GRT, and Mark Clifton of Flomaton, AL was a first-time winner on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in the Clifton Racing Special.

The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS continues to lead the West Region standings after a second-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the H.E. Mosley, Inc. Trak-Star. McDuffie has 438 points and holds a 30-point lead over Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS, who has 408 points.

Whynot Motorsports Park drivers dominate the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region point standings, holding down the top seven spots, and eight of the top ten positions.

Behind McDuffie and Murphy are Randy Boyd of Marion, MS in third with 406 points, Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS is fourth with 400 points, and Wiley Williams of Stonewall, MS is fifth with 395 points. Meridian, MS drivers Tim Dees and Daniel Bridgeman are tied for the sixth spot with 384 points each.

Landon Frith of Terry, MS, a regular NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region competitor at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, is eighth in the West Region standings with 380 points. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS, a regular at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS is ninth with 377 points.

Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL captured his fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the Century Dedicated, Inc. Trak-Star. McRee rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 365 points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action, Mark Tice of Avon, MS drove the Precision Marine Trak-Star to his second win of the season on Saturday night at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, AR. Chris Ragan of Ramer, TN took his second straight win on Sunday night driving the Southeastern Pool Supply Trak-Star against a stellar 34-car field at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS.

Lamar Furr of Hollandale, MS broke Duke Palasini’s three-race win streak with a victory on Sunday night at Greenville Speedway driving the Geddies Repair GRT. Centerville Speedway in Centerville, AR did not report their Sunday night results.

The defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL picked up Week 9 wins by Tice, Ragan, and McRee to bring their point leading total for the season up to 22 wins.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR remains in the second spot of the standings with 18 wins on the season after Week 9 wins by Stevens and Furr. Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV holds down the third spot with nine wins.

Also competing in the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge and still looking for their first wins of the season are TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN, Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN, and Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN.
