The stars of the Carolina Clash are ready to tackle the “Daytona of Dirt” this Saturday, June 4 for a $4,000 to win feature event along with $2,000 in Contingency awards and prizes to be presented to the drivers throughout the night. The race this Saturday marks the first trip to 311 Speedway for the Carolina Clash in close to a year.

Luke Roffers still sits atop the points standings for the Carolina Clash as he has a 26 point lead over the defending Carolina Clash points champion, Dennis Franklin who moved into second in points after Dublin. Mike Gault lost one spot in the standings and fell to third place with just a 9 point advantage over the Dublin winner, Kenny Compton Jr. Jeff Smith currently sits fifth in Carolina Clash points just a mere 53 points behind Roffers. With the top five in points separated by just 53 points, it’s still anyone’s race for the regular season point’s champion who will win a cool $2,000 before the “Chase for the Cup” begins which pays a sweet $10,000 to win. With a total of $12,000 up for grabs, the drivers in the top 5 will be fighting tooth and nail for the prestigious prize money.

The Klotz Synthetic Lubricants Rookie of the Year leader is Chad Paxton who sits in the seventh place point’s position. Mike Huey sits second in the Klotz Rookie of the Year standings and is also 12th in Carolina Clash points. Travis Yow holds onto third in the Klotz Rookie of the Year standings and 14th in Carolina Clash points. Robbie Bailey has made steady progress in the points as he is 4th in Rookie of the Year battle and has moved up to 17th in overall Carolina Clash points standings.

Last season, Richard Childress Grandson, Austin Dillon swept both races held at 311 in convincing fashion. Dillon’s first win came in late March in the Carolina Clash second race of the season then his second victory came at the beginning of May in a doubleheader weekend. The two victories were Dillon’s first of his career with the Carolina Clash.

Both events saw over 30 cars sign in and with an average of just over 30 cars per race this season, the Carolina Clash looks for much of the same this weekend. In the five races held already this season, the Carolina Clash has seen four different winners including Chris Ferguson, Johnny Pursley, Kenny Compton Jr. and Luke Roffers with two victories. Can one of these four repeat this weekend or will a new winner arise at 311 Speedway. You will have to be there to see for yourself. With the Carolina Clash, you buy the whole seat, but you only need the edge. For more information on the Clash visit their website at www.carolinaclash.com

Also on the card for Saturday night will be the Stock 4’s, U-cars, Crate Late Model, and Steel Head Late Model. Pit Gates will open at 3pm with the grandstand gates opening at 4pm. Drivers Meeting will be at 6pm and hot laps will start at 6:30 pm. For more information on 311 Speedway visit their website at www.311speedway.net
