Three east Tennessee drivers currently find themselves in the top-5 of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series standings after last weekend’s Show-Me 100 crown jewel event at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. That could definitely be bad news for the competition as those from this region look to tighten their grip on the series in their home region.

Mooresburg’s Scott Bloomquist resides in the first spot of the LOLMDS standings followed by Newport’s Jimmy Owens. Indiana’s Don O’Neal is third with Kentucky’s Steve Francis in fourth overall. The final east Tennessean in the top-5 is Winfield’s Mike Marlar in fifth. Earl Pearson, Jr., Dale McDowell, Brad Neat, Jared Landers and Dennis Erb, Jr. and Bub McCool round out the top-10. Erb and McCool are actually tied for tenth.

Series leader Bloomquist has won five LOLMDS so far in 2011, including a stretch of four wins in a row at one point. The Hall of Fame driver has also won two World of Outlaws Late Models races this season.

Owens had a dominating stretch run in east Tennessee as he won in three consecutive weeks at the Volunteer Speedway(twice) and the Smoky Mountain Speedway. He has also won two LOLMDS races. One during the Florida Speedweeks segment of the schedule as well as the most recent race in Wheatland.
