CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 10 competition will feature 11 events in four states with six races in the West Region and five races in the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region. In included in the OMG East Region total are two NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events that will award Regional Bonus Points.

Drivers participating in the $2,000-to-win 40-lap NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring event on Friday night at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA and in the $2,500-to-win 50-lap race on Saturday night at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, GA will receive 25 Regional Bonus Points at each event for their participation.

During the course of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series, drivers can earn up to 100 Regional Bonus Points that are added to their best 14 race week totals by participating in NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events, or they can earn 25 Regional Bonus Points for each four weeks of perfect attendance at a NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series track.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 10 competition will open with three events scheduled for Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR, Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, and at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO. After being rained out for six straight weeks, the weather forecast is good for Malden Speedway this week.

Saturday night Week 10 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action will take place at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, and at NEA Speedway in Harrisburg, AR. NEA Speedway is still trying to get their first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series show in this year after two straight rainouts.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Week 10 racing will begin on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL. Saturday night OMG East Region action will be held at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA and at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Drivers participating in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events compete for prize money at each event, and each track will pay out a point fund at the end of the season. Drivers are also competing for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Regional point fund that pays $5,000 to the Champion and pays back through the top ten spots in each Region.

A driver’s Regional point total is made up of their best event point total on a weekly basis, plus bonus points earned by perfect attendance at a single track and participating in NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events. The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series runs through October 2.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 150-pound weight break.
