Ray Cook’s Memorial Day Weekend Highlighted by Duck River Win; Lucas Oil Tripleheader Ahead!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Brasstown, North Carolina driver Ray Cook reached victory lane for the first time in 2011 on Sunday, May 29 at the Duck River Speedway in Wheel, Tennessee! Ray laid down the quickest circuit during Tennessee Super Series qualifying, which locked him into the pole position for the 40-lap main event. The driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" took the lead at the drop of the green flag and paced the field from flag-to-flag. Ray recorded the convincing $4,000 triumph by defeating Anthony Burroughs, Terry English, Corey Posey, and Riley Hickman!

Earlier in the weekend, the #53 D&R Motorsports team competed in the 19th Annual 'Show-Me 100' at the pristine Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. Ray endured a rough weekend, but received a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series emergency provisional to gain access into the $30,000 to win feature event on Saturday night. In front of the CBS cameras, Ray was on the move in the 100-lapper, as he blasted past twenty competitors to score a solid ninth place finish in the crown jewel event. The exciting race will be broadcast on CBS Sports Spectacular on June 19 at 5:00 p.m. EST. Full results from the busy Memorial Day weekend can be found online at www.dirtondirt.com.

“Maybe our luck is changing for the better,” commented Cook following the strong weekend. “Our cars have been fast all year, but we just don’t have the results to show for it. Everyone on the team has been working so hard and I think the good showing at Wheatland in front of the CBS cameras and the win at Duck River lifted all of our spirits. I have to thank Rockstar Energy Drink and Makita Industrial Power Tools for coming on board at Wheatland for the remainder of the season. We look forward to working with them and representing their corporate brands in a professional manner!”

Next up for the #53 team will be a huge tripleheader weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series that starts tonight, June 2 at the historic Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee. On Friday, the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee will take center stage, while the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky will close out the trio of races on Saturday evening. All three programs this weekend will pay $10,000 to the winner. Ray comes into Cleveland tonight twelfth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
