what's everyones opinion? If you were going to a 1/5 mile track and had choice between crate car with up to 12" spoiler and no weight rule (roughly 2150) or all steel 358. That has to weigh 2375? Does the rpm of the steel motor beat the crates weight advantage?

Unless it is a bowl that is both banked and VERY tacky I do not thing you would see any advantage to the 358. If it gets slick the crate would show a larger difference. We won 4 of 4 races on a small 3/8 with a crate running against anything else, the only rules were under 362ci you could weight 2250 and 362 and over you had to weight 2350. The track was always dry slick and not much banking and we won against everything from other crates to 434ci aluminum SB2 motors. We won the races from the front but in hte heats we started all over including last and won each heat.
If the track can only hold 500hp the guy with 400 is going to be driving easy and the guy with 700+ is going to be trying like heck to keep it hooked up if he can.

Haha my entire racing operation is on that boat.

225 lbs?? 1/5 mile?? you should be able to take a crate and run against anything there.
